Despite the best efforts of the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme for relocation, the population in Tripa forest has declined by 80%. Poaching, deliberate fires, clear cutting, and water drainage - all to support the palm oil plantations - are destroying this ecosystem and this amazing species.
